Activity Three

3-1 Recognize the first uses for computer graphics.

3-2 Identify characteristics of the oscilloscope.

3-3 Discover what devices people use to print their technical drawings.

3-4 Wind the bobbin and install it into the Embroidery Machine.

3-5 Thread the embroidery machine.

3-6 Secure the fabric in the embroidery frame.

3-7 Embroider three-four letters.

Activity Four

4-1 Identify the computer platform that most CAD work was done between the mid-1950s and the early 1980s.

4-2 Discover the company that first produced a computer with a processor powerful enough to run micro-based CAD programs.

4-3 Recognize the first simple computer game using graphics.

4-4 Begin using Designs Embroidery Center to manipulate and prepare a red fish graphic for embroidery.

Activity Five

5-1 Identify the widespread use of layout in the embroidery design.

5-2 Recognize the difference between formal and informal balance.

5-3 Complete the red fish design you began in the last activity.

Activity Six

6-1 Identify the characteristics of proportion.

6-2 Recognize examples of contrast.

6-3 Define proportion, rhythm, unity, and logo.

6-4 Open the file you were working with in the previous activity and import it into the Layout and Editing program.

6-5 Size the fish graphic, add a background circle and lines.

Activity Seven

7-1 Add text to the fish logo.

7-2 Locate advertisements that use descriptive fonts to help sell the product or service.

Activity Eight

8-1 Prepare the spool stand.

8-2 Embroider the logo.

Activity Nine

9-1 Create a pizza advertisement for a newspaper.

10-1 Complete the Vocabulary Test.

10-2 Complete the Post-test.

10-3 Create a fund-raiser poster.

6-4 Complete a Multinational Sign Work Sheet.

6-5 Review the parameters that must be followed in creating an original logo that will be embroidered in Activity Ten.

6-6 Begin sketching ideas for the aforementioned logo.

Activity Seven

7-1 Finalize the logo which will be designed and embroidered.

7-2 Discover how to take an existing image from a memory card and manipulate it.

Activity Eight

8-1 Continue developing the logo that will be embroidered in Activity Ten.

Activity Nine

9-1 Finalize the development of the logo and have it ready to embroider for the next activity.

Activity Ten

10-1 Embroider your logo.

10-2 Begin working in the Challenge Section.

Activity Eleven through Activity Fifteen require students to complete challenges to meet numerous high

level problem-solving objectives. The objectives for the challenges in this module include:

Challenge One

You will conduct research on a career of your choice in the Graphic Communications-Embroidery field. You will share your findings in a presentation.

Challenge Two

You will create an image to embroider that exceeds the dimensions that the PE-180 can do at one time, forcing you to remove the fabric from the frame, move it, then replace it in the frame.

Challenge Three

You will embroider an image to a ball cap.

Challenge Four

You will create an embroidery project using only the PE-180, and surround your image with a frame.

Challenge Five

You will interview someone who embroiders shirts, hats, etc. for a living to see how they determine cost and a sales price.
